D-Orbit and Planetek Announce Strategic Business Combination to Expand Capabilities in Advanced Space Technologies

Athens, Greece, Monday April 7, 2025.
D-Orbit and Planetek have announced a strategic business combination. Through this transaction D-Orbit has acquired 100% of Planetek’s shares, making Planetek shareholders part of D-Orbit’s shareholder base. Despite this acquisition, both companies will maintain their operational autonomy to ensure business continuity while implementing synergies and exploring new innovative business models together.
The combination enables both companies to integrate new capabilities in cloud-based space applications, AI-powered data processing in orbit, and real-time data services. Together, they will provide customers with a one-stop shop for in-orbit servicing and big data management in space, expanding their portfolio to benefit government, security, commercial, and environmental sectors.
For Greece specifically, this business combination brings “significant new perspectives for Planetek Hellas,” as noted by CEO Stelios Bollanos, reinforcing its position as a leading space player in Greece. The combined entity will strengthen Planetek Hellas’ operations, which have been established in Athens since 2006, and enhance its capabilities across the entire space value chain from upstream to downstream, particularly in satellite Earth observation, spatial data infrastructure, and applications for emergency, security and defense domains.
“The combination of our investee company D-Orbit with Planetek is important for the Greek space tech market. Planetek Hellas, an established player in the local market, will strengthen its position and its capabilities to further develop local value add. Phaistos Investment Fund is already a solid investor in New Space, including also OQ Technology/OQ Technology Hellas”, commented Antonis Tzortzakakis, CEO 5G Ventures/Phaistos Investment Fund.
