5G Ventures announces the appointment of Fotis Karonis as Advisory Board member

5G Ventures announces that Fotis Karonis is the new member of its Advisory Board.

Fotis Karonis is Capgemini Executive Vice President, Group leader 5G and Edge Computing. As the 5G global leader of Capgemini,  Fotis works with Industry Verticals and Communications Service Providers for their digital transformation journey. Fotis has been BT group CTIO for Enterprise & Managing Director of Mobile & IT driving the delivery of the 5G UK program in 2019. As CTIO of EE, he led EE the UK’s largest Mobile operator to be the first to launch 4G in the UK in 2012. Fotis was awarded Mobile Europe CTO of the Year 2015.

“I welcome Fotis, an experienced executive with a proven international track record and thank him for his willingness to contribute to the national effort to support entrepreneurship and the development of innovative investments in the digital technology sector,” said Antonis Tzortzakakis, 5G Ventures CEO. “Moreover, I would like to thank Haris Tsavdaris for his participation in the Advisory Board in the previous period,” he added.

The role of the Advisory Board is to provide pro bono advisory services to the Board of Directors and the Investment Committee of 5G Ventures, the management company of the Phaistos Fund.  The Advisory Board consists of seven distinguished Greek professionals with international careers, who have excelled in entrepreneurship, research & development, innovation, high technology, and business management.
